"I served on the Cubera 1960-61. Sailed on her during one of the Med cruises. Had some good friends aboard that I unfortunately lost track of a long time ago. The COB during those days was Herby Pratt. Anyone aboard at that time know how to contact Chuck ow how to contactck ow how to contact Chuck Bolling ET1(SS)? I'd enjoy hearing from any of my Cubera shipmates. Ron Miles ET2 (SS)"
"HI CHEESY, I SERVED ABOARD THE CUBERA IN 1962-1964. I WAS A TORPEDOMAN IN THE FORWARD TORPEDO ROOM WORKING FOR TM2 SS GARY SMITH. I WAS THE MANUVERING WATCH HELMSMAN WHEN WE RE-FUELED FROM THE CARRIER. ALL I CAN REMEMBER IS THREE HOURS OF HELL WITH THE OLD MAN THREATENING TO THROW ME OVERBOARD IF I BROKE THE RE-FUELING LINES. WERE YOU ON BOARD WHEN WE TOOK THE BIG ROLL AND ALMOST WENT ALL THE WAY OVER. A FIRST CLASS EM WAS SCALDED AND HAD TO BE AIR LIFTED OFF. GREAT SITE - LITTLE JOE"

"I took my first dive under the sea on the old cubby in november 1956.I have some great memories of my two years on board. If any one would like to talk about old times call me. anybody going to atlantic city? Great Page. Thanks,U W "
"The Cubby was my home from Feb. 64 thru Sept. 66. The crew was my family. Two Med trips, a Midshipman cruise up the St. Laurence to Montreal, and uncounted weekends in Bermuda, have left me with many fond memories. Time has the ability to erase some of the bad stuff, and now most of the reasons for shipping out after 4 have become cloudy. I wouldn't change my past, even if I could, but it's fun to muse....what if? Great site.....'Brother'. Dutch"
"The Cubbybear was the first boat to take me down . It was in the fall of 63 or early 64 when I was attached to NRSD 4-37 and we came up from Philly to take a kiddy cruise one weekend. As I remember, we rocked and rolled all over Long Island Sound and I got hooked on Sonar. I went to Sonar School, then the Redfin, Triton, and Haddock and got out after 10 years. The crew on your boat was outstanding and helpful and I really got a taste of the Elite of the Fleet!!!"
